Flashback: Kalua Pig Mini-Documentary

A small mini-documentary featuring my recently departed father-in-law on about how to cook and process a local delicacy, Kalua Pig. Dedicated to Ron and David, who left us far too soon.

11 yrs ago I made a mini-documentary about how local Hawaiians cook in-ground Kalua pigs. This “IMU” was done by my father-in-law and his friends. The documentary features David Cunha and Ron Nishimoto sharing how the process.

I created this documentary as part of a pro bono training series called FCPX On-air. I wanted to teach people how to make documentaries with only what's in their backpack using Apple’s Final Cut Pro software.

David died a few years ago. Ron died surrounded by his family yesterday after battling esophageal cancer.

Rest in peace Dad.
